In this coming election, we have two ballot measures that would help raise money for our schools. Let's face it, they've faced some serious budget cuts in recent years, and next year is looking downright scary if we don't find a new source of revenue for the schools - the easy cuts have already been made.

Well, the city's doing the usual 'Old Fashioned 4th of July' celebration at Memorial Park as always. While the festivities officially start at 9:00, Strollin' Jeff Wolin will be playing at the gazebo at 8:30, great music for kids and adults alike so check it out. Pancake breakfast at the senior center, etc. There's a stage 2 fire ban in town currently, meaning no outdoor fires allowed (except for propane or natural gas grills and patio heaters), and no non-commercial fireworks.
July 5th brings the Colorado Springs Philharmonic back to town for the 31st annual Symphony Above the Clouds. Gates open at 5:00, 5:30 is the preshow with Ceol Ceili, and the concert starts at 7:30 with fireworks after dark. Located at the Milddle School just off Rampart Range Road, and as always, free.
