ATVs are losing their rights to go almost anywhere, as the US Forest Service begins imposing restrictions on ATVs and other off road vehicles across the nation. Rather than forest lands being, by default, 'open' to motor vehicle use, they'll be 'closed' unless specified otherwise. Users will be expected to obey new travel maps, which may not allow travel on paths previous used. The maps, to be developed over the next two years, will be made available online, at ranger stations, and in local businesses. Like many such laws, it's largely due to a small percentage of users who aren't obeying existing rules and thus rules are tightened for everyone. (read more in the Denver Post)
