Well, the December snow has finally melted from our front yard, only for me to learn about the potential dangers of Snow Mold. This fungus will form in lawns after around 40-60 days of snow coverage. It’s not necessarily a big deal, but it sounds like it’s best to at least rake off the larger clumps as some types of grass are susceptible to damage from this. I’d go out and check our lawn to see if there’s any snow mold present, except mother nature has chosen today to dump some more snow on us! So, looks like I’ll add this to the ‘to-do’ list for when this latest snowfall melts. You can read more about it in this article in the Gazette.
