No, those people you'll see wearing orange vests and picking up trash around town are not doing court-appointed community service - they're local citizens who want to do their part to help Keep Woodland Park Beautiful, and are volunteering their time to pick up trash! Here's more info straight from the city's website:
This year’s Keep Woodland Park Beautiful Spring Cleanup will feature everything participants have come to expect a chance to meet new friends and work hard to make a difference in the community followed by free food and beverages in the park but this year’s after-cleanup picnic will also feature live music by Woodland Park’s own Jeff Wolin, National Park Ranger, science educator and musician.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Memorial Park in Woodland Park. All participants must check in to receive assignments, vests, maps and bags. Vinyl gloves will be available but participants are encouraged to bring their own sturdier gloves, along with a filled and refillable water bottle.
Litter pickup will take place from 9:30-11:30 p.m. and the barbecue starts at noon. For information, call City Planner Scott Woodford at 687-5209 or email Bryan Kochis at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
