This 4.33 acre, partially developed park was dedicated to the City in 1984, with the approval of the Crestwood Park Subdivision. At that time, the developer agreed to construct a 10 car parking lot and install a split-rail fence around the site. This neighborhood park is centrally located north of Woodland Park along Valley View Drive. The park is vegetated with native grasses, shrubs, Ponderosa pines and spruce trees.
The proposed concept plan addresses the park needs of the neighborhood by providing a mix of passive and active activities. It incorporates two irrigated lawn areas, one area for open play while the other will be used for friendly neighborhood games of volleyball or badminton in the summer or be flooded in the winter for ice skating and hockey games. A fenced in, one half basketball court is planned north of the parking lot. To the east and north of the open lawn area a tot lot with a low boulder climbing wall is tucked into the hillside; adjacent to the tot lot a picnic shelter is provided. East of the picnic shelter a loop trail begins to wind its way through a ponderosa forest, picnic tables and horseshoe pits. Further east the trail is intended to provide a leisurely stroll through a serene setting of forest, native grasses and shrubs. Exercise stations are planned along the trail’s path for the more vigorous visitor. At the east end, a future trailhead may provide access to the adjacent National Forest.
UPDATE: the improvements to the park are complete! Visitors can enjoy basketball, a great playground, lots of grass, picnic tables, etc. There's also now a porta-potty onsite.
