Next spring, work will begin on a 45,000 square foot YMCA to be built near Memorial Park. Around $11 million of the construction costs are being paid by the city, drawn from the downtown redevelopment district's tax incremental financing program (yeah, I'm not really sure what that actually means either). It'll include a gym, climbing wall, indoor running track, wellness area, child care facility, and one or maybe more pools. (via link)
