The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, just west of Divide, won accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Acquariums. This will allow it to care for retired wolves from federal wolf-breeding programs, as well as apply for education grants to teach people about wolves. Educating the public about wolves will become more and more important as wolves begin migrating into Colorado in the coming years. My dad is going through a similar process in Bend, Oregon, where migrating wolves are facing unreasonable opposition from ranchers and others who are just uneducated about the animals and in a state of panic as a result.
