The Woodland Park Saddle Club is relocating to a 35 acre parcel in Divide. It was originally going to rebuild along hwy 24 near WalMart after the city purchased its original location to covert into Woodland Station (someday!). Exactly why they're choosing Divide instead isn't entirely clear, but it does seem to be pretty much a done deal. There will be a Divide Chamber of Commerce meeting on 4/8 at 6:00PM at Killday's Deli in Divide to discuss the plans. It's a small Deli (with great food!), so either they're not expecting a lot of people to show up, or those who don't show up early will be standing. I(via Activerain) Read 2 Comments... >> |

The city of Woodland Park is joining municipalities countrywide faced with decreased revenues in 2008, forcing budget adjustments in 2009. Revenues were about $230k less in 2008, so the impact to the 2009 budget is not expected to be severe. You can read more about this in the Courier. Read 0 Comments... >> |

For those of you looking for a great recycling option, good news. Teller County Waste will soon be installing a recycling bin in the Wal-Mart parking lot where you can drop off glass, metal, and plastic at no charge. It will be located near the paper recycling bins that are maintained by Waste Management. If you'd rather not have to haul your recyclables there, you might want to call Teller County Waste at 686-7517 to arrange for home garbage service. We were pleasantly surprised to find it less expensive than Waste Management, even with the added benefit of curbside recycling! They also have an 'every other week' garbage pickup option, nice for people who take advantage of recycling to reduce their trash volume. Read 2 Comments... >> |

In an effort to save money, Woodland Park schools are considering switching to a four day school week. Cost savings would come from transportation (bussing) and utilities. We assume the school day would thus be longer to compensate, I'd hate to see childrens' education suffer just to save a buck. Read more in the Gazette. Read 0 Comments... >> |
